The Acer Aspire One Pink Notebooks

AcerAspireOnePinkNotebookAcer has added to its immensely popular Aspire One netbook arsenal of personal computers with the new Aspire One AOD150-1165. These new pink notebooks are an excellent choice for students and business travelers who want to keep their loads light while being able to maintain productivity on the go. With the new model’s 10.1 inch screen, it’s even easier to work on than its predecessors.

The affordable (prices starting at just around $400), ultra lightweight pink notebooks have a weight of less than three pounds, so it won’t weigh you down while you’re on the road. The AOD150-1165’s new generation 6-cell battery offers an incredible 5 hours of battery life, so you won’t have to worry about running out of power in the middle of an important project. The Intel Atom N270 1.6 Ghz processor ensures plenty of processing power; this is a processor which is designed specifically for netbooks and other mobile devices. The advanced design of the Atom N270 is built with hafnium-infused circuitry, which helps the Aspire One reduce power usage by reducing leakage.

These notebooks feature a gorgeous pink color (among several other colors to choose) as its predecessors, with the addition of a white hinge ring which offsets the color perfectly. The new Aspire One’s integrated Crystal Eye webcam is built into the bezel of the screen and provides excellent image quality even in low light conditions – it’s a camera tailor-made for video chat and producing streaming video.

The multimedia features don’t end there either; a digital microphone is also included which offers impressive sound quality for voice communications and recording. The microphone picks up very little background noise and minimizes echo – it’s a great improvement over most other built in microphones currently on the market.

Just because the Aspire One is small and lightweight doesn’t mean sacrificing hard drive space. This model offers a very spacious 160 GB on its integrated drive, so you can bring plenty of music, movies and other files with you everywhere. 1 GB of RAM is installed and the Aspire One is upgradeable to 2 GB.
Other features include built in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi networking capabilities, USB ports, a multi-format memory card reader and the Windows XP Home operating system pre-installed.

Acer Aspire One Pink Notebooks Technical Features

Processor
The Intel Atom N270’s new design provides 47 million (47,000,000) transistors in a .87″ chip which uses only 2.5 watts – that’s less than 10% of the power needed by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. This means longer battery life and plenty of processing power, even for demanding applications. The N270 also features a power optimized 533 Mhz front side bus and a 512 KB L2 cache for the performance you need from your netbook.

Storage and Memory

The Aspire One AOD150-1165 includes a 160 GB, 5400 RPM SATA hard drive; plenty of room to hold all of the files and software you need. The drive also features incredible transfer speeds which are comparable to those of USB 2.0 and Firewire. 512 MB onboard memory and an included 512 MB DIMM (533 Mhz) chip are included. The system can be expanded to 2 GB RAM in total.

Multimedia
The WSVGA 10.1 inch screen supports screen resolutions of up to 1024 x 600 and 262K colors. The video card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. This card uses both shared video memory and the system’s main memory reserves. The picture quality is leaps and bounds beyond what you’ve seen from mobile LCD screens before, thanks to Acer’s unique CrystalBrite technology, which minimizes distortion and reproduces colors with the highest possible fidelity.
The netbook’s integrated audio card is compatible with Microsoft DirectSound drivers and two stereo speakers are built in.

Networking
The newest member of the Acer Aspire One family includes an Acer InviLink 54g wireless card for 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi connectivity. The antenna is incredibly efficient due to advanced Acer SignalUp technology. There is also a dedicated SD memory card slot, a multi-format card reader which can read Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Cards. Also included are three USB 2.0 ports, an RJ-45 port for Ethernet connectivity, one headphone jack, one microphone jack, one VGA monitor port and a Kensington lock slot.

Optical Drives

The Aspire One does not feature an optical drive due to physical space limitations, but you can connect external CD or DVD drives to any of the Aspire One’s three integrated USB 2.0 ports with ease.

Operating System and Additional Software
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3 is included with this model. Acer has also included the McAfee Internet Security Suite, a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007, the Acer eRecovery Management tool, the Acer Launch Manager and Adobe Reader.
