Also known as ultraportable, they are not just lightweight laptops but powerful complete laptops as well, lacking nothing. They usually come equipped with a screen size of 12 inches or less and weigh in less than 3 pounds. The reason for their lightweight comes down to their miniaturized hardware and thin shell.
As manufacturers continue to produce ultra lightweight parts, larger screen laptops also can be categorized as ultraportable. These ultra thin and lightweight laptops are usually more expensive than other styles but if you carry around your laptop day to day, it might very well be worth it.

If you are looking for something small and portable, yet less expensive than one of the lightweight laptops, I would suggest you take a look at the netbooks. Netbooks are incredibly lightweight and small, yet they do tend to have some lacking features that many cannot live without- one of these features is a CD/DVD drive. If you can go without the disk drive and don’t usually have tons of things to store on your computer, than a netbook might be a great fit for your needs.

There are several brands of ultra light laptops available. The newest addition to the group is the Adamo by Dell, an ultra slim large 13.4 inch screen, and premium features. Toshiba offers their mini notebook as well as the professional Toshiba Portege with flip around screen and several key capabilities making this one of the most popular choices.
